CANIS MAJOR - THE COMING PRINCE OF GLORY - This constellation has nearly lost its meaning over time. Today its known as the Great Dog. The Greeks thought that Orion had a pair of hunting dogs and this was one of them. The three stars in Orion's belt point to the so called "Dog Star" which is Sirius, the brightest star in all the sky by far. It is only 9 light-years from earth.

CANIS MINOR - THE COMING REDEEMER - This is supposedly the lesser dog of the two dogs following Orion. It consists of only two stars. Like Canis Major, the original meaning of this constellation has long been obscured. The brightest star of the two is Procyon which means Redeemer, Savior.
